For International Beading Week this year we are embracing the colours of IBW and also the theme of celebrations.  On an IBW colour theme we have put together various selections of beads in the twelve colours of the IBW logo in different sizes and finishes and a selection of these collections will be available at very special price.  These will be launched on July 26th and stock of each of the collections is limited.

International Beading Week - Celebrating Europe

Join the BWG online celebrations, whilst we bead our way around the world, with our first port of call being Europe.

IBW - Celebrations, is the perfect opportunity to share items you may have made for a certain European day of celebration. Whether you made something to celebrate St. Patricks Day - Ireland, King’s Day - Netherlands, Vappu - Finland, Bastille Day – France, San Gennaro Feast Day – Italy, or the Carnivale di Venezia, whatever celebration has inspired your beadwork, we would love to see your interpretations for your country of choice, whilst enjoying some social beading time with beading friends around the world.

AM session only - Designer Meg Thompson will be joining us to share some bead embroidery hints and tips as well as demonstrating Peyote bezels.

Event: Norgard Designs' 2024 Global Project: Honoring the Ndebele

Launch date/time:  Saturday 27th July @ 5.00pm BST

Norgard Designs is hosting our fifth annual global project: "Honoring the Ndebele".

Under Global Projects, our website (www.norgarddesigns.com) will provide free lessons and lectures. Through our lessons, Anvi Shah will teach you the Ndebele stitch and Deb Mosch and Sam Norgard will guide you through your choice of colors. This year Kathryn Shriver will facilitate our lecture series where you will learn about the Ndebele people and hear Kathryn's interviews with contemporary bead artists. All participants are encouraged to follow our color requests and send in 6 - 12" versions of Ndebele ropes to be used in an artistic creation designed by Sam Norgard.

International Beading Week is about encouraging people from all around the world to share their passion for beadwork, encourage newcomers and to showcase exciting projects that are happening around the globe. Today the BWG online Zoom team is taking you on a trip to Asia - a part of the world filled with fragrant spices, exotic flowers and sumptuous silks.

We are heading down under to the sunny islands of the Sothern Hemisphere today to check out what you may have made for the Sing-sing Festival – New Guinea, the Sydney Mardi Gras – Australia, the Pasifika Festival – Auckland, New Zealand, the Hibiscus Festival – Fiji or the Aloha Festivals of Hawaii.

The culture of these islands provides a wealth of inspiration, which can easily be translated into beadwork, so whatever celebration has inspired you to bead... even Mother's Day, do join us for a day of beady exploration.

Weave fun beaded beads with Chloe using SuperDuo or Twin beads, round glass beads and seed beads! These Bubble components are really enjoyable to make, and you’ll have a bracelet in no time!  The components have lots of uses beyond a bracelet and Chloe will share lots of ideas with you during The Beadworkers Guilds' free online session. This is the ideal project for beginner beaders upwards.

  • 16 x Twin hole or SuperDuo beads in one or more colours
